the truth is i started writing fic when i was about maybe 11 or 12? and. im 20 now. so. it’s been a while

and before writing fic, i was always writing stories with original characters for fun, so when i got into the internet and realized i could write about my favorite characters, i just did. i honestly don’t even remember for sure what my first ever fic was, but i’ll tentatively say the first i ever posted was a coffee shop au for nico di angelo from percy jackson and an original character. im like. 99.99% sure i never deleted it so if you knew where to look you could probably find it sndbdjk

so i mean, i guess you could say my earliest prompt inspiration was coffee shop aus! they’re just really formulaic and easy to jump into while still having the freedom to be super creative :”)

as for fics that inspired me, most of the fics i read at 11/12 are. definitely not ones i would necessarily recommend now ACTUALLY. i just remembered one. let me see if i can find it

Project Demigod - ohhhh my god. i actually logged into my old wattpad account to find this (and experienced a lot of guilt for my unfinished stories on there, my bad), but when i was younger i thought this was, like, the best fic i'd ever read. it's a percico au fic in which percy is a spy and nico is a prince, and i remember always being amazed at the author's dedication to precise times and places (there's a lot of travel, being on the run and all), and i remember there was this running repeated imagery of cold/teeth/mint with percy that i loved? i haven't read it in SO LONG and obviously never caught up with it, but i checked just now and it seems to be on a permanent (?) hiatus. pouring one out to bookworm210 i hope life's going well for you queen

so that was from my early days, but as for more recently, most of the people that follow me now know me for my miraculous ladybug fics. i will admit that right now im more of a writer than a reader, but when i was first starting to get into the ml fan space, the fics that inspired me most were:

Chasing the C/h/atwalk - this is an au where marinette enters the reality show project runway as a contestant and ends up having adrien as her model (!!!!!) if i remember correctly, they were older and hadn't had contact in a few years, and as the show goes on they both have to juggle being on a reality show, developing feelings, and having to sneak off to do superhero stuff. the story alternates between marinette (i think) in real time as she experiences what happens behind the scenes of the show and her friends and family watching episodes at home. all in all, it was such a creative fic and the DRAMA of it all. truly inspirational.

and

A witch's familiar - this fic diverges from canon mid season 1 because. it started while canon was still in season 1. so there's a lot of super interesting lore on the miraculous that is very different from canon. this fic as i remember it focuses a lot on gabriel and nathalie's relationship in the most interesting way possible, and it also discusses gabriel and adrien's relationship. this gabriel characterization 100% will stay with me for the rest of my life - i think this was the fic where i was introduced to the idea that gabriel clasps his hands behind his back so no one will see his fingers fidgeting. also: there was this running 'game' gabriel would play with nathalie where he would try and steal the bobby pins out of her neat buns throughout the day. i think about that. very often actually. i don't remember where i stopped reading, but it has 65 chapters now and was last updated in 2017. pour another one out for mirawohoo i hope she's still rockin it in her daily life

while none of these fics necessarily kickstarted me into writing fics, i still think of them as really influential to me. i wanted (and to be honest. still want) to be as precise and detailed with setting and timelines as project demigod, im always striving for the level of drama and character emotions as chasing the c/h/atwalk, and im always thinking about the character study and slowburning plot from a witch's familiar.
